Bristol City boss Derek McInnes wants to win for the fans

DEREK McInnes wants his players to give long-suffering Bristol City fans something to cheer this weekend.
Without a home win in nine attempts since they beat Cardiff in BS3 at the end of August, the Robins face a potentially make-or-break encounter with fellow Championship strugglers Peterborough United tomorrow.
Since watching their side put Cardiff to the sword three games into the campaign, City supporters have seen Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United, Burnley, Hull City, Charlton Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County win at Ashton Gate.
And to add insult to injury, they turned out in big numbers on Boxing Day, only for the Bank Holiday fixture against Watford to be postponed moments before kick-off when torrential rainfall rendered the pitch unfit.
Robins manager McInnes has praised Ashton Gate regulars for remaining behind the team during what has proved another difficult season and would love nothing more than to see that support rewarded with a long-overdue home win this weekend.
"I was more disappointed for the supporters than for anyone," said McInnes following the Boxing Day call-off.
He added: "Hopefully, they will turn out in good numbers again on Saturday and get to see their team perform.
"Hopefully, they will get to see their team win. They have got behind the team and been supportive all season and I appreciate that.
"Our form on the road has been good and we have taken seven points from 12. Now we need to build on it and replicate that form at home."
McInnes adopted a 5-4-1 system with three central defenders and wing-backs for the first time at Ipswich last Saturday and saw his team summon an improved performance to earn a creditable 1-1 draw.
He planned to replace Paul Anderson with striker Sam Baldock in a slightly-altered 3-5-2 system for the Watford game and is expected to deploy a similar formation against Peterborough.
He said: "I thought we were very comfortable against good opposition in Ipswich. They are a good side in a good vein of form but, apart from a few occasions, I felt we were comfortable.
"It worked well for us and the plan was to go into the Watford game with something similar.
"We filled channels and neutralised a lot of what Ipswich tried to do. At the same time, we made the pitch big, got on the ball and passed it well.
"Hopefully, we can have the same kind of performance on Saturday, whether we go with a back four or a back five. It does not matter, just so long as we get the points."
