Lorry driver from Highbridge arrested after fatal collision with motorbike

A lorry driver from Highbridge has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a motorcyclist was killed and his pillion passenger seriously injured.
The 48-year-old man was involved in an accident on the A38 in Quedgeley, Gloucester, shortly before 9am today.
The rider of a black Kawasaki, a man aged 43, from Stroud, Gloucestershire, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been told.
A 21-year-old woman from Stonehouse who was riding pillion was taken to Frenchay Hospital where police say she is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: "The lorry driver, a 48-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently helping police with their inquiries."
The road was closed between Cole Avenue and Waterwells until 12.45pm while emergency services examined the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 103 of October 20.
